Housing support and rental help
Rental flat queues, interim housing after a crisis, and HDB arrears plans — we explain eligibility, waiting times, and when your SSO must be involved.
HDB public rental flats
Citizens with low household income may apply for HDB rental flats. You declare preferred towns, flat type, and household members. Prior flat ownership, outstanding loans, or past tenancy breaches affect approval — we review your HDB correspondence before you apply.
Waiting times depend on supply in chosen estates. Officers may offer a different town; accepting or rejecting affects queue position. We explain how to document medical or school needs when requesting a specific location.
Interim rental housing
When you need a roof immediately — fire, family violence move-out, or lease ended with nowhere to go — interim rental housing is usually referred by a Family Service Centre or SSO, not applied for online alone.
Stays are temporary. Rules on visitors, maximum occupancy, and move-out dates apply. We track how interim placement interacts with your rental flat application so you do not miss HDB deadlines.
Rental arrears
HDB and SSO can structure repayment plans when income dropped but tenancy should continue. Bring proof of job loss, medical bills, or caring responsibilities. Ignoring demand letters leads to termination proceedings — early contact improves options.
Relocation grants
Some households qualify for moving costs when shifting from private rental to public schemes or after compulsory acquisition. Receipts for movers, utility deposits, and first month rent may be claimable within programme limits.
Bring NRIC, tenancy agreements, income proof, and any HDB or landlord letters. Book a housing review at our Tiong Bahru office.
